Settlement day is the final milestone in your property purchase journey. It’s the moment when ownership officially transfers from the seller to you, and you finally get the keys to your new home. While it’s an exciting day, it can also be a little nerve-wracking if you’re not sure what’s involved.
Typically, your solicitor or conveyancer will coordinate with the seller’s legal team to ensure all documents are in order. Your lender will release the funds for the purchase, and any remaining payments—such as stamp duty or legal fees—will be finalised. Once everything is confirmed, the property title is transferred to your name, and you’re officially the owner.
It’s a good idea to do a final inspection of the property before settlement to ensure everything is as agreed. Staying in close contact with your broker and legal representative can help avoid any last-minute surprises. Once the paperwork is complete, you’ll receive the keys and can begin the next chapter in your new home.
